Her research has involved fieldwork in Europe, New Zealand and Antarctica and has focused on the structure, dynamics and sediment transfer in alpine glaciers; and the mass balance and evolution of ice shelves.

More recently she has worked in various capacities around the South Island of New Zealand, primarily spending winters working for NZSki.  Summer work has included biodiversity and tourism research at Mt Cook, working at Scott Base in Antarctica and swapping summers for winters in Switzerland and Colorado.

Becky is currently taking a break from skiing and investigating a new range of activities including fishing, running and gold prospecting as well as finding time to study the complex morphodynamics of braided rivers.
