ReesScan forges a research team from three internationally renowned centres of river science: Aberystwyth University in the UK; the National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research (NIWA) in New Zealand; and the Forest Technology Centre for Catalunya (FTCC) in Spain.  

 

Each of these groups and the individuals involved bring important complementary strengths to our research. Aberystwyth has expertise in environmental geomatics, sediment budgeting and simulation modelling. NIWA’s strengths lie in their experience with braided river processes and management, while FTCC brings skills in field monitoring and sediment transport processes.

 
We have also established a strong base of collaborators who are bring expertise in important areas: Rennie (aDcp modelling of bedload); Smith (quanitification of roughness); and Wheaton (modelling morphodynamics).
